Marianne Kirlan, 80, of Charles City, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City. A private family service will take place at a later date.
Marianne Weinberger, the daughter of A.W. and Eva Weinberger, was born on November 24, 1938 in Flint, Michigan. She attended school in Charles City and graduated in 1957. Her parents were owners of Weinberger Pharmacy.
Marianne was a member of the First Congregational Church in Charles City where she was a past president of the Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. She was happiest when recalling stories involving high school classmates/life-long friends, childhood adventures with Sether family cousins on their Jackson, MN farm or time spent working at her family’s Weinberger Pharmacy. Her grandchildren (and her cat, Tori) were the source of great joy and she would talk about them to whoever would listen.
Living family members include her daughter, Lisa (Robert) Brown; son, Michael Kirlan; granddaughter, Taryn Brown; brother, James (Joan) Weinberger and their children, Kelly and Katy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Asher Lesyshen Kirlan.
Marianne’s family would like to thank the individuals in the community who provided much help and support over the past several years. Special gratitude to Norma, Randy, Karen, Pep, and Virginia – your generosity and kindness will be forever appreciated.
Donations in memory of Marianne can be made to the Charles City YMCA, First Congregational Church in Charles City or the charity of your choice.
